At “To Mars and Beyond VBS”, your students will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they explore where God’s power can take them. They will become Voyagers and discover how to serve God and God’s mission for their lives.
After a high-energy Opening Assembly time, Voyagers make their way to the Bible Story Station. Interactive Bible lessons reveal Power Launcher (key learnings) to equip them for an active life with God. Your Voyagers will also discover our Vector Verse (Bible memory verse), Ephesians 3:20 – Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us! Students will expand on their discoveries by making their own art projects at the Craft Station, singing new songs at the Music Station, exploring the wonders of creation at the Science Station, playing games at the Recreation Station, and enjoying tasty treats at the Snack Station.
At St. Paul UMC, we believe in “sharing God through our faith and actions” and as such we like VBS to be a hands-on experience. That means kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes. We are also excited to be taking up our VBS offering to benefit Hope for Children, an organization that assist that helps to provide a healthy childhood for all children.
Our 2019 VBS program will take place Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12. To Mars and Beyond VBS is for kids from Pre-School to Middle School and will run from 6 PM to 8 PM each evening.
This year, we are offering a meal before VBS, beginning at 5 PM. We understand that a prompt 6 PM start might make it hard to fit in dinner beforehand so everyone is welcome. You are not required to attend the meal to take part in our VBS but are very much welcome to come and eat with us.

Q: How old must my child be to attend?
A: All children are welcome; however, we require that all children be able to use the bathroom themselves, without assistance.
Q: How much does this cost?
A: Nothing! This is a free program and as such there are no costs. If you wish to donate to the church to help with VBS operating expenses you may are welcome to do so, but it is not required for participation.
Q: Do we need to be members of the church to participate?
A: No. This program is open to the community; membership to St. Paul United Methodist Church is not required to participate.
Q: Can I drop my child off?
A: Yes, you are not required to stay as all of our VBS volunteers are fully compliant with Pennsylvania State Laws and United Methodist policies regarding children and youth safety. You are, however, invited to stay, if you so choose. Consider sticking around for the opening and closing activities and songs for a fun and educational experience.
Q: Can my older child(ren) volunteer?
A: As our program is geared for Pre-School to Middle School audiences, we find that having older teenagers come on board as youth volunteers is a great way to get the VBS experience but from an entirely new angle.
- Youth under the age of 18 can participate without the need for clearances. Please contact Rev. Richard Brown at (610) 969-5086 or by email at email@example.com.
- Youth over 18 must have all appropriate clearances per Pennsylvania State Law. Please contact us for more information about these requirements.
Q: Will my child be photographed?
A: We will take photos as part of the program and to enhance our recap at our VBS Celebration Worship Service on Sunday, July 14st. Here, a short slideshow will help us celebrate the great week we had together.
On the first day of our VBS, Monday, July 8, we will ask all parents and/or guardians to sign a photography consent. Here, you can select whether you grant or refuse permission to have your child(ren) photographed according to the uses detailed above.
Q: How do I sign-up?
A: Online registration is also available via the church’s website: stpaulhellertown.org. Paper registration is available at the church and can either be completed on-site or mailed back. Should you have any trouble registering please give us a call at (610) 969-5086.
